Punjab Cabinet approves recruitment of 1090 Patwaris in Revenue Department

Approval to appoint only One Kanungo for 7 Patwar Circles instead of 10. With a view to bring more efficiency in the functioning of the Revenue Department, the Punjab Cabinet in a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh on Wednesday approved to fill the vacancies of 1090 Patwaris,
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister's Office said that this decision was taken as it was an important part of the revenue department in the state administration where the Patwaris have a vital role to play in collecting, maintaining and updating the land related records.
The spokesperson also said that this decision would not only speed up the efficiency of the revenue department but would also further improve the system of providing services to the people. The people will benefit greatly from this pro-people initiative of the government.
The Cabinet also approved the posting of one Kanungo behind 7 Patwar Circles whereas at present one Kanungo was posted behind 10 Patwar Circles. The decision will create 34 new Kanungo posts. This decision will also reduce the increased workload of Kanungos deployed in the field due to socio-economic changes in the state.
